Our new puppy/afghan update

Due to the RSI I have had to take it VERY SLOWLY so am still finishing the afghan in that previous post. Don't think I will crochet anything so big again because I think it is even more painful for my hand than knitting. I have had some improvement and the pain is much lessened, and I look forward to finishing this blanket - I just have a few more rows and then the border/blocking.

Another big distraction, besides the rescue kittens, is the newest addition to our family, Maya, a Miniature Australian Shepherd puppy. We picked her up two weeks ago. Besides the usual puppy hassles of chewing and potty training, she had coccidia and we learned the hard way. She is on medication now and doing great and we are starting puppy classes tonight.

On the rescue kitten front, I had a very successful weekend at the adoption events. Sugar, the snowshoe, generated a lot of interest and was adopted Saturday by a family that was a previous adoption family (with a young cat for company) so approval was a snap. We were concerned about the impact on Spice, but it turned out to be the best thing for her - she became very very affectionate with us. Then on Sunday a lovely family wanted to adopt Spice - even though she nipped and scratched! They take delivery next week - I am crossing my fingers that they don't change their minds and that the adoption works out. Anyway we get a last week with the kitten and we are integrating her more into the home, she slept with the boys last night and they loved it. It was so adorable to see her curled up at my six year old son's feet.

I have tentatively started another cable strip, in a lovely coral shade of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky. It is a Celtic Cable pattern so is rather daunting - but I think that will be good for my hands, because I won't be able to be Speed Racer.

I'm glad you've got some yarn going again. I know how hard it can be to stay away from it - even when its for your own good.

Congrats on the new puppy -- what a cutie! And I'm glad to hear that other sweet animals are finding good homes too. :)
