Out Out Damn Spot!

Had part two of my 3 part magic loop sock class this weekend. Turned the heel - a reinforced heel flap, and did the gusset - also got part way down the foot, nearly completing all decreases. Kept at it since I've been home and overshot the mark a bit so am backing out a few rows (tedious). Anyway it has been a grand experience, all but for the terrible pooling of the dark burgundy, which really looks awful - it looks like two different socks depending on which side you are looking at.

I complained to my sockknitter Yahoo group; I have been researching patterns that do the best to minimize the STR pooling effect, considering I have six skeins in my stash. Found my way to the RPM pattern in Knitty, so that looks worth a shot.

Have decided that the pattern that came with my Fleece Artist scarf kit is not working out. "Maybe it wants to be something else," my sock knitting teacher tactfully said.

I hate to say - but I don't mind pooling. I know it really does bother some people though. I think it is kinda cool - funky, if you will. I am sorry you are unhappy with the socks - i think they are pretty. The scarf - isn't it funny that some kits come with yarn that really DOESN'T want to be what was intended? Go up a needle size or two and see if the yarn decides to cooperate then.

Pooling is sometimes very cool. I sort of like your pooling there. And yes, your scarf yarn wants to be something else by the look of it. What did you finally do about that one? Inquiring minds wish to know. ;o)
